Jam Night Frequently Asked Questions

Is this class for all ages/skill levels?

Yes! We have no age or skill level restrictions for this group class!

Are there rehearsals leading up to Jam Night?

No, This is a very casual class, intended to feel like an organic jam session between musicians, and not like a formal performance. We encourage the students to practice the song at home and in their private lessons with their teacher, and then just show up and have a good time getting to play with other kids in a low pressure environment!

I'm not sure if I am ready to sign up, can I come watch a class first?

Yes! You're more than welcome to come watch Jam Night! Parents and family are also invited to come and watch their students performing.

Do I need to have the song learned 100% perfectly to join?

No. You don't need to have it perfect to join! As long as you can get through the song, making minor mistakes throughout won't be a problem.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Guitarists/Bassists: Bring your Instrument, Strap, Picks and Cable!

  • Drummers: Bring your Drumsticks.

  • Keyboardists/Pianists and Vocalists: You don't need to bring anything!

If you would like to bring your own instruments including rhythm instruments like cajons, tambourines, shakers etc. feel free!

Will I just be playing the same instrument to the same song 7+ times in a row?

You can do that if it's your preference but most students do try to experiment with different instruments during the class!

For example: We have our drum students trying out the keys and the guitar students trying out the drums! Some students jump on the microphone and sing lead or background vocals during the class too!

For our Drum Students, because there is only 1 full drum set on stage, we cycle through the drummers with each song pass. When they are not playing the full kit, we do have other rhythm instruments on stage (tom drums, snare drums, shakers etc.) so they can play something the entire class!

Our teacher Justin is there the whole time guiding the class and making sure everyone is having fun! It's a very fun, motivating & friendly environment!
